Casa Buenavista was founded in 1918 and it started out as a family restaurant. Today, authentic and local gastronomy continues to be one of our passions. In our Casa de Comidas, we will introduce you to traditional Catalan cuisine, but with a very personal and innovative twist. Enjoy our local flavours in the different areas of the house and don’t miss all we have prepared for you. Enjoy your meal!

Restaurant.

This term comes to English, via French, from the Latin restaurare, meaning ‘to repair’. The history of this word begins in the middle of the 18th century, when a French baker called Boulanger opened what is known today as one of the first Casas de Comidas, or eating houses.

This establishment was dedicated to the sale of homemade broths under a Latin sign that read:

 

venite adme omnes qui stomacho laboratis et ego restaurabo vos, which means “come to my house, all of you whose stomachs are in distress, and I will restore you”.

From this phrase comes the name of the establishments that nowadays sell food and drink.

Please meet our team and chef Marc Roca.

His passion for quality, seasonal produce runs in the family. His mother was from Castellenou d’Olugues near Cervera. There Marc was able to experience the pleasure of eating vegetables freshly picked from the garden, and meat prepared in the purest Catalan style. This approach to nature awakened Marc’s interest in the local cuisine. Gourmets describe Marc Roca’s cuisine as Terroir, with local dishes that are sometimes highly evolved.

The Neighbour-hood Bar

The Sant Antoni neighbourhood is in fashion. It’s cosmopolitan, authentic, modern and right in the centre of Barcelona! If you decide to stroll through our neighbourhood, you will be surrounded by the great authenticity of its buildings, the traditional shops and local markets in a modern and multicultural atmosphere. La Casa de Comidas is the neighbourhood bar and Sant Antoni rocks!

Serving meals since 1918

La Casa de Comidas Buenavista is a century-old business that has managed to maintain its original essence thanks to its markedly local spirit. After an intense period of restoration to give it a modern and updated style, we wanted to recover the old concept of the traditional “Casas de Comidas”. 

This type of establishment was very popular at the beginning of the 20th century and was characterised by serving a cuisine based on fresh market produce to all kinds of diners. Just like ours!
